OK who is excited if not a little nervous about tomorrow? I for one can't stop the nerves from creeping up on me! Not only playing in the 2s most crucial game to date but also umpiring the men's 2s game at 3, for which my decisions could decide on them winning the league or not tomorrow... Eeek!!
I have booked the skittle alley at the Brunswick for us on Saturday night so we have the space for the club to play skittles if we want. Fun starts at 7.30! Hope to see as many there as possible please.
(Posted on 2012-03-09 11:34:00 by Miche)
I wasn't planning on a late night on Saturday but thought it would be nice to have two or three beers after the game. As such, you should be back in plenty of time for the 'party'! Roll on Saturday andd hopefully something to celebrate.

(Posted on 2012-02-27 13:31:00 by Martyn)
Me too Martyn - But well done to everyone involved in what has been the busiest weekend for the new club so far. All fixtures played and some great results too, oh and for the record about the West Dorset 1st teamers playing against us on Sunday...... copy of the league rules...
....7.3 Playing for more than one team
No player may play for more than one team in scheduled League matches in the same weekend. However, it is accepted that when a re-arranged game is scheduled for a Sunday one or more regular players may not be available. In such instances, gaps can be filled with players from a lower ranked team, provided there is compliance with Rule 7.2(e). If it is the clubs lowest team with the rearranged game the players may be drawn from the team ranked immediately above them. Any proposed selection falling outside this criteria must be agreed beforehand with the appropriate Area Secretary.
so... in the rules? it would appear so.... fair?...........Not!
Never Mind, bing on the 10th ......and the final of the Ladies Devon Cup and the 100+ goal difference for the Ladies 2nd's...

Great set of results on Saturday and congrats to Ladies for an fantastic cup win on Sunday. Excellent performance from Men's 1st XI to retake top place of their league on Sunday and while the Men's 2's didn't mathmatetically win the league we shouldn't be disheartened by the West Dorset result as their 1's play two leagues above us. Anyway, and with counting any proverbial chickens, it means we can wrap the league up at home on the 10th March and celebrate at the Brunswick. Every cloud, as they say, has a silver lining!

It's flipping chilly up here in Welly...so I reckon the pitch may just be a little bit frozen Rog! :(
(Posted on 2012-02-08 17:39:00 by Miss Jones)
Good thinking Miche, it's obviously very good that the captains do speak to each other, that way emerging younger players in the 2's will get their chance in the 1's ahead of returning players that haven't played for a while...... now, will the pitch be frozen tonight???
(Posted on 2012-02-08 09:25:00 by Rog)
Understood Pete, the comment has been removed, but what should have been mentioned is, and I am sure that you will agree, that ALL team captains need to make every effort to attend training, they are then able to work with Nicky to ensure that players are playing in the right team, and as Nicky cannot make all matches, it is important that team captains could feed information to her at training, it may be that teams might need to work on defence or short corners or set pieces :)
I also think that it is important that all players should attend training when possible and I understand it is not always easy to do this, if not for their own benefit but for what they can give to other players, especially for the ladies 1s that are training with the men - there is a huge amount of expertise in the club and a lot of new players that need training to build their skills and this is where us "older" players can help.

just noticed a section on the home page about training and the lack of 2nd team attendances bla bla bla, did'nt realise it was compulsary ,we probably have as good as a team spirit as any team if not more and to be honest playing a better style of hockey than others, the youngsters benefit from training for stick skills but as for playing the game they are learning from 240 yrs experiance, lol, and as for me,do you think i'm gonna come home after doing 14 hrs at sea then get changed n go out n get cold and wet again,i dont think so,oh, and were 9 points clear, need i say more

Excellent Miche, Thanks for that.... Glad to see you're back. The tables do look good reading at half way don't they? Some hard fought matches for all the teams over the last couple of weeks I think.
(Posted on 2011-12-11 09:21:00 by rog)
Yes Roger, all done re letter!
This is forum for questions to the club as whole, if you want to get a quicker response though, it might be quicker to email. (see committee contacts under "About Us") as not everyone checks this page regularly enough. I will try and get on here more often now that I back in the country for longer than 2 days for a while, and will remind the committee to check the page as well on Tuesday.
On a different note... well done to the Men and Ladies this weekend, fab hockey was played and you did us proud... again.
Hope everyone can attend the Christmas meal on the 16th December, it really is going to be a night to remember!

I wasn't planning on a late night on Saturday but thought it would be nice to have two or three beers after the game. As such, you should be back in plenty of time for the 'party'! Roll on Saturday andd hopefully something to celebrate.
Might well do Martyn - although we do have a party to go to later on the the village!
I'll be on the No2 with Paul on Saturday if you want to join us Rog.

Computers eh Martyn? Didn't know anything about pub crawl, We thought that hopefully we would be in the Brunnie celebrating winning our league, not counting chickens and all that.
Wasn't me Miss Jones. Thought we were just going to the Brunswick on Saturday anyway, had no idea about fancy dress in Teignmouth.
Hi...someone updated the fron page with details to social this saturday and deleted some of the bits that I did to it to make it look good :( please don't...I spent a lot of time doing it :(
Another great weekend for Teign! Girls 1's overtake Mannamead after a 3-0 win which means they are now 3rd and STILL have to play the top 2 teams! The ladies 2's won also and so did the men...11-0?? wow! Awesome chaps and chapesses! Big thanks to Rosie R and Michelle Judge for taking the juniors on sunday! You are stars! Im already excited for this weekend! Can it be saturday now please????xx
I'll get the hang of these computers one day!?
Just thought I'd say a big thank you to all the club journalists who take the time and effort to write up the atch reports. Just read the reports for last weekend in the local Advertiser and great to see it fill almost the whole page and not another club mentioned....even better!

Excellent new front page. Well done for all the hard work
Front page needs correcting - Ladies beat Plym Valley 3-0, the Sidmouth game was a league match :o) Super, thanks xx
Jackie
Excellent news...must mean that the first schooner of sherry is on me!?

10th March sounds good Martyn, its also my birthday!!!! Double celebrations
10th March sounds good Martyn, its also my birthday!!!! Double celebrations
Nope !
Do you feel better for getting that off your chest Rog?
Me thinks I was a bit heavy handed with the enter key!!
Every cloud, as they say, has a silver lining!

now that sounds more like it,a proper presentation evening ,looking forward to it already
Good point Rog and it'll be worth posting details to the web site just as soon as the Race night front page comes down. Anyway, and if memory serves, it's Saturday 31st March at Dawlish Golf Club. Club game, AGM booted and suited for awards evening do and, if all goes to plan,...much celebrating!
Can you please let me have your horse sheets by 12 oclock on Friday 24 Feb so i can print names in the program.
You can send info by email to jackieb@peplows.co.uk or mrsbrooksie@tesco.net or text them to 07747581208.
Many thanks.
If I only get the sheets on Saturday night this is ok, I can allocate horses on the night, it just means names wont be in the program.
oooooo Miss Jones, you are soo right.... although I'm not too sure about the change in time for the men's 2's start on sunday - I can't normally move much on a Sunday till midday anyway !!! - Anyway, the End of Year bash should be a great one.
Rog
(ps. when is it?)

Absolutely right young Roger. Only Bridgwater and ISCA left in teh championship race with the 2nd XI. Let's tie it all up at the weekend....bring on Super Sunday!
Another great weekend for the Teigns - great results all round on Saturday, and the boys U14's were so unlucky to go down 2-1 against East Devon....... but a really good run out for them.....
I'm also not sure if Warmer Services are going to sponser a rave (front page)... but will certainly sponsor a race as will The Hair Studio at Bishopsteignton

I'm sure the girls will make it up for us toned athletes Martyn !!
Both the men's 1's v Minehaed and 2's v West Dorset rearranged fixtures are on Sunday 26th. As such it's lemonade all round at the race night!!
I see the mens 2's rearranged game v West Dorset is on Sunday 26th Feb
Oh YES!! with Bridgwater losing, we're 12 points clear.. fantatstic. Another good win for the girls 1's and its getting very close with the mens 1's too...... lets keep it all going..... also, mens website has changed details for our links - details here for our webmaster http://www.wswhl.co.uk/public/news.php#193
thats great news martyn, lets sow the league up in 3 games with 9 points and then we can celebrate early ;-),well done guys, great season so far,but lets keep it going
Results all went for the men's 2's at the weekend. Just need a maximum of 7 points from 6 games to win the league (6 points to win it on goal difference!). Come on you Teign!!
No photos yet, I've messaged charly again, laura said something about her having a flood?! lol so hopefully we might get some photos soon! xxx
Have we got the photos from the xmas do yet ??? x
What's pink and blue and white all over? (well, nearly) http://www.london2012.com/webcams/riverbank-arena.php
It's flipping chilly up here in Welly...so I reckon the pitch may just be a little bit frozen Rog! :(
Good thinking Miche, it's obviously very good that the captains do speak to each other, that way emerging younger players in the 2's will get their chance in the 1's ahead of returning players that haven't played for a while...... now, will the pitch be frozen tonight???
Understood Pete, the comment has been removed, but what should have been mentioned is, and I am sure that you will agree, that ALL team captains need to make every effort to attend training, they are then able to work with Nicky to ensure that players are playing in the right team, and as Nicky cannot make all matches, it is important that team captains could feed information to her at training, it may be that teams might need to work on defence or short corners or set pieces :)
I also think that it is important that all players should attend training when possible and I understand it is not always easy to do this, if not for their own benefit but for what they can give to other players, especially for the ladies 1s that are training with the men - there is a huge amount of expertise in the club and a lot of new players that need training to build their skills and this is where us "older" players can help.
perhaps we should concentrate on those who havent paid there subs, they should all have been paid by now n thats not just a part payment thats the full amount,
perhaps we should concentrate on those who havent paid there subs, they should all have been paid by now n thats not just a part payment thats the full amount,
just noticed a section on the home page about training and the lack of 2nd team attendances bla bla bla, did'nt realise it was compulsary ,we probably have as good as a team spirit as any team if not more and to be honest playing a better style of hockey than others, the youngsters benefit from training for stick skills but as for playing the game they are learning from 240 yrs experiance, lol, and as for me,do you think i'm gonna come home after doing 14 hrs at sea then get changed n go out n get cold and wet again,i dont think so,oh, and were 9 points clear, need i say more
Yet another weekend without dropping a point - great stuff all 4 teams again !
Luverly Rosie, Many thanks
All goal scorers are up to date now roger. x
Hey Phil, could you put the goal scorers on for the 2's for the past couple of weeks please?
Well done Bradders....... on the cutting edge of techno....... no wonder you haven't replied to my texts !!!! btw, Jay, I have your watch here at our shop - Warmer Services, next to Sainsbury's

Hi All,
Great results yesterday. Who has lost their mobile phone? I have found a mobile on the back seat of my car, it needs charging but it has text from Pete Brooks and Tim Oliver on it. Sadly it is now locked and I don't know how to unlock it!! Can you get intouch with me if you lost your phone yesterday (28/1/12). Phil
Another amazing 12 points this week, well done everyone...........

Excellent Miche, Thanks for that.... Glad to see you're back. The tables do look good reading at half way don't they? Some hard fought matches for all the teams over the last couple of weeks I think.
Could someone from the committee please respond regarding my post about Mr. Goodrich? thanks
