CLUB HISTORY:

In the 2010-11 season, both men’s teams had solid results, narrowly missing out on promotion from their respective leagues. The first team, playing in South East Division 2, finished 3rd and just six points off promotion, whilst the second team, playing in South-Eastern District 1, finished 4th. The ladies first team also narrowly missed out on promotion from South Division by finishing 2nd, despite only losing three games. The ladies second team finished 4th in Channel Division 2b, just eight points off promotion.

The 2011-12 season is still the most successful year in the clubs’ short history as all four teams achieved promotion.  The men’s first team topped South East Division 2, the men’s second team topped South Eastern District 1, and the ladies second team topped the newly created Petroc Division 2. The Ladies first team finished second only on goal difference in South Division but gaining promotion.

A major reshuffle of the league Davis Wood Hockey League structure saw both men’s sides in newly created leagues for the 2012-13 season. Success continued for the men’s first team as they secured a second consecutive promotion, topping South East 1 having only lost once all season, whilst the men’s second team finished 7th in South East 2. The Ladies first team almost secured back to back promotions but in the end, fell short in third place in Premier Division 2B, meanwhile, the Ladies second team finished a respectable 6th in Petroc Division 1. The club was proud to expand the ladies side in 2012 with a third team playing in Petroc Division 2. Results were hard to come by initially but they battled for their first goal, first point and then first win, finally finishing an impressive 9th place in their debut season.

A remarkable third successive league title came for the men’s first team in the 2013-14 season as they topped Southern 2 without losing a game, scoring 134 goals in the process with 41 coming from the clubs’ top scorer Ben Ayres. The men’s second team had a tough season with injuries and absences severely hampering match day selection, making their 8th place finish in South East 2 highly respectable. This was also a hard year for the ladies side of the club as all three were uncharacteristically fighting at the bottom end of their league tables. In the end all three managed to avoid relegation, remaining in Premier Division 2B, Petroc Division 1 and Petroc Division 2 respectively.
